Our u 14 team qualified for the feile national championship by beating abbeyside in a hard fought county feile in cappoquin on Thursday night last. Abbeysides 7 points all came from played balls including frees from charlie Treen and a 65 from jack mcgrath. For ballygunner 4 points came from play including a brace from Donagh cooney. Patrick Fitzgerald hit all our frees including a few pressure ones from angles Pauric mahony would have been proud of. In midfield tommy phelan was immense and bravely put his body in where many a senior might think otherwise. Our half backs performed well but the star performer in defence in the second half was Aaron o Neill who stuck to his task of marking their danger man seanie o callaghan and in fact out hurled him in the end and started many of our second half attacks. It is now onto galway where we meet st finbarrs of cork and Carrinbridge the club's all ireland semi final opponents from 2002
